Evening walk

We just returned from a nice evening walk, M and I. We both were busy all day: she was working and I was dozing in my favorite chair. That was fine with me – it was pouring with rain most of the day. Then in the early evening the sun came out and M decided it was time to go.

It was very pretty in the dunes:

M tells me she enjoys the smells of all the wild flowers. I enjoy the smells of the wild rabbits! There are loads of them in the dunes. We walked on to the beach. Luckily there were no kites, I hate those big noisy ugly things. There were a lot of seagulls that are good for chasing, though, so that was nice. M made some pretty pics for this post, although not one of them has me in it. Which is a bit disappointing, I have to admit. Next time I’ll stick my nose in the camera.

Look it’s me!

Look what I found:

A statue of me! How nice. The colors aren’t right, this one is too white and the one in the background is too brown, but hey. I don’t mind, I think it  is very flattering that someone tried to make a statue of me.

Although these aren’t as wonderful as the real me, of course.

What, vegan?

M has been reading a lot of food blogs recently. I know this because when she is looking at this luminous device she calls a computer I doze beside her. So I can read what is on the screen. First I found it interesting to see she is reading these blogs – one never knows what inspiration she gets from them, especially about things I find yummy too. Like recipes for grilled squid or slow cooked beef.

But, first to my surprise and than to my horror (because she explained it to me): there were no pics of animals on these blogs. Instead there were pics of veggies, loads of them, of fruit and seeds. They turned out to be blogs about a special kind of food: vegan food. My canine readers who are ignorant about this will ask me what vegan food is. My more world wise canine readers will roll over now, moaning. Vegan means: no animal products. No meat, no fish, no cheese, no butter, no yoghurt. Not even one tiny little shrimp. Not even honey! (Oh, all right, I don’t care about that).

After I had recovered from the shock, M started explaining to me that she is interested in food, on the whole. Which means she likes learning about food, vegan food as well. She won’t turn into a vegan herself, she assured me, but sometimes maybe she will eat food in this style. But I do not have to worry, because she will feed me meat still. Even when she is having a wonderfully tasty pizza, she won’t give me any of that.

What?

I love pizza! Vegans have pizza too, it turns out! And little white rolls.  Mmmmm. Maybe it is not so bad as I thought. Maybe I will join M and eat vegan too. A little, of course. The other day I would like to have squid. Or slow cooked beef.

Sun lover

I so very much love the sun. When ever there is a ray of sunlight in our house I lie down in it. I cherish the warmth on my coat, it makes me so relaxed. I like dozing in the sun for hours. It can’t be hot enough for me – there are only a few times I remember that being in the sun was too hot and I looked for some shade. But that was in high summer and we were travelling in the south.

So I think it is very, very nice that M placed my bed in the garden today, so I could enjoy the warm sunshine in my own cozy soft bed.

Party time!

Yesterday M and P and I had a little party, all by ourselves. I am not sure why, but that doesn’t matter I guess. Maybe it was because M’s second thriller has been published this week. Anyway: they opened a special bottle for this occasion. I really like these kind of bottles, because they have this thing that goes flying high into the air.

P opened the bottle and I followed the orbit of the thing:

Than I searched for it and found it at the back of the garden. It is wonderful stuff to play with, so I did:

I chewed on it and threw it in the air and tossed it around with my paws. Than I offered it to M and P, so they could play with it too.

But they did not want it, because they were too busy with the contents of the bottle. Strange. Sometimes I do not understand humans.
